Norman Augustine
Former Chairman and CEO, Lockheed Martin Corporation

Mr. Augustine is the retired Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation. He is also a Director of The Black & Decker Corporation and ConocoPhillips.

Born in Denver, Colorado, Mr. Augustine is an Eagle Scout, a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America and was the national president from 1994 to 1996.

Norman R. Augustine has held numerous high-level posts in government and private industry. He joined the Douglas Aircraft Company in 1958 where he worked as a Program Manager and later Chief Engineer. In 1965, he began his first term of government service at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense where he served as an Assistant Director of Defense Research and Engineering. He joined the LTV Missiles and Space Company in 1970, where he became Vice President, Advanced Programs and Marketing. In 1973 he returned to government as Assistant Secretary of the Army and in 1975 became Under Secretary. Joining Martin Marietta Corporation in 1977, he served as Chairman and CEO. He became President of Lockheed Martin Corporation upon the formation of that company, and later Chief Executive Officer, and Vice Chairman and Chairman. Mr. Augustine was instrumental in the merger of Lockheed and Martin Marietta in 1995 into the largest defense firm in the world. He currently serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee of Lockheed Martin.

From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Augustine was a lecturer with the rank of professor at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University. Mr. Augustine just completed his ninth year as Chairman and Principal Officer of the American Red Cross and is a former member of the Policy Council and Chairman of the Education Task Force of the Business Roundtable. Mr. Augustine co-authored The Defense Revolution and Shakespeare In Charge, and authored Augustine's Laws; and Augustine’s Travels.
Mr. Augustine attended Princeton University where he graduated with a BSE in Aeronautical Engineering magna cum laude and an MSE.
