PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE NAMES THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Partnership for Public Service is pleased to announce that three new members have been elected to serve on its Board of Directors. The board has elected Beth Brooke, Global Vice Chair, Ernst & Young; Robert Ingram, Vice Chairman Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline; and Nancy Killefer, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company, Inc., to serve initial three-year terms.
In welcoming the three new members to the board, Max Stier, Partnership President and CEO said, “One of the Partnership’s greatest strengths has been our outstanding Board of Directors, and it just got a lot stronger. Beth Brooke, Bob Ingram and Nancy Killefer will bring energy, ideas and a broad range of experience to our board. Their guidance and leadership will enhance the Partnership’s ability to advance its mission of revitalizing our federal government.”
In addition to naming the three new members, current board members Cokie Roberts, ABC NEWS Chief Congressional Analyst; and Tom Bernstein, President and co-founder of Chelsea Piers, agreed to serve additional three-year terms.
The new board members join Partnership for Public Service Founder Samuel J. Heyman, Chairman, International Specialty Products; Max Stier, President and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service; John Bridgeland, Former Assistant to the President and Director of the USA Freedom Corps; Richard Danzig, Former U.S. Secretary of the Navy; Joel L. Fleishman, Professor of Law and Director, Heyman Center for Ethics, Public Policy, and the Professions; Sean O’Keefe, Chancellor, Louisiana State University and A&M College; and Susan Rice, Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution.
About the Partnership’s Newly Elected Directors:
Beth A. Brooke, Global Vice Chair, Ernst & Young
Brooke is Global Vice Chair of Strategy, Communications and Regulatory Affairs of Ernst & Young. Her portfolio includes developing the firm’s strategic direction and shaping its position on public policy. Previously, she was National Director of Tax Advisory Services and prior to that, was in the firm’s Indianapolis office. Before joining Ernst & Young, Brooke worked in the U.S. Department of Treasury, where she was responsible for all tax policy matters related to insurance and managed care. Brooke was named number 41 on Forbes annual list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World.
Robert Ingram, Vice Chairman Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline
Ingram began his career in the pharmaceutical industry as a professional sales representative and rose through a series of roles with increasing responsibility to ultimately become CEO/chairman of GlaxoWellcome. He co-lead the merger and integration that formed GlaxoSmithKline, the world's second largest pharmaceutical company. Upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60, he was asked by the Board to serve as Vice chairman Pharmaceuticals, GSK.
Nancy Killefer, Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company, Inc.
Killefer, Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, Inc. focuses on marketing strategies and improving organization effectiveness for a wide range of clients. Previously, she served as Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Treasury were she oversaw the agency’s budget and management, personnel, and procurement policies. Ms. Killefer also served as Chairperson of the IRS Oversight Board, a body that governs the IRS and is composed of private sector representatives, the Commissioner of the IRS and the Secretary of the Treasury.
