PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS HOUSE PASSAGE OF THE "PAID PARENTAL LEAVE ACT OF 2009"
WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement commending the leadership of Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and the United States House of Representatives for passing legislation that will provide federal employees paid parental leave:
“The federal government should make every effort to be a model employer. The Paid Parental Leave Act will allow parents to balance work and family life and is an important tool to help the government recruit top talent and retain its experienced workers. With this Act, the federal government will be better able to deploy top talent in service to the American people. Passing it is not only the right thing to do, it makes good business sense.
The Partnership applauds Rep. Maloney and the 55 House co-sponsors for their leadership in passage of H.R. 626, and we strongly urge the Senate to join the House in passing federal employee paid parental leave legislation.”
