Webinars for Students

VIRTUAL FEDERAL ADVISOR TRAINING SERIES

Through interactive webinars, participants will gain a better understanding of the federal hiring process, learn how to advise students on federal opportunities and build meaningful agency relationships. Successful completion of the Virtual Federal Advisor Training Series fulfills one of the requirements for the new Federal Advisor Certificate of Completion.

Who Should Attend?

Colleges and universities use Federal Advisor Trainings to learn effective advising strategies for students and alumni interested in federal careers and to build public service champions across campus. Individuals or teams from colleges and universities are welcome to attend. These cross-campus teams can include representatives from career services, employer relations, internship programs, departmental career services, faculty, academic advisors and alumni services.

Objectives

  • Learn how to navigate the federal hiring process and learn more about student programs, where the jobs are and the federal application process.
  • Identify best practices for building agency relationships by leveraging existing college or university relationships and strategically developing new long-term relationships.
  • Discuss ways to promote federal service in cost-effective and sustainable ways by involving the whole campus community and building off what has worked at other campuses.

Part I: Advising Students on Federal Opportunities

Learn how to navigate the federal hiring process and learn more about student programs, where the jobs are and the federal application process.

Part II: Campus Sustainability
Tuesday, June 11, 2013
1:00 to 2:15 p.m. EST

Discuss ways to promote federal service in cost-effective and sustainable ways by involving the whole campus community and building off what has worked at other campuses.

Part III: Building Agency Relationships
Tuesday, June 18, 2013
1:00 to 2:15 p.m. EST
Identify best practices for building agency relationships by leveraging existing college or university relationships and strategically developing new long-term relationships.

Registration and Fee

The cost of the three-session Call to Serve Virtual Federal Advisor Training Series is $135 per registration.

This webinar series provides career services professionals with convenient webinars to show to students and alumni looking for federal opportunities. We encourage campus advisors to register for these sessions and broadcast them to their students and colleagues in a classroom or other venue.
