Call to Serve for Colleges and Universities

Our Call to Serve program is designed to educate a new generation about federal service and improve the ability of federal agencies to recruit and hire the top talent needed to maintain a competitive workforce. We currently work with a network of more than 1,000 colleges and universities and dozens of federal agencies to pilot and refine sustainable, cost-effective ways to educate and attract students to careers in the public sector, with special emphasis on our government’s critical need for people with skill in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

How Can Colleges and Universities Participate?

For students and recent graduates, employment is about more than a paycheck—it is about having the opportunity to make a difference towards our nation’s challenges. With the growing complexity of issues facing this country and one-third of the permanent, full-time federal workforce projected to retire by 2015, the federal government is in need of—and is hiring—top talent.

The Partnership helps colleges and universities connect students and alumni with federal jobs and internships through:

  • Onsite and virtual trainings designed to provide the knowledge and tools needed to educate students and jobseekers about government opportunities and build relationships with federal agencies;
  • A certificate program that enhances and formalizes participants’ roles as federal advisors;
  • Access to exclusive Call to Serve resources;
  • A monthly newsletter featuring federal workforce news, agency spotlights and other helpful recruiting and hiring resources.
