Blockwood has been named the next president and CEO of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) and will begin in that role in January 2025. “James-Christian’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing our strategic goals and enhancing our programs that help public servants. His dedication to our greatest resource—our people—has left an indelible mark on the organization,” said Max Stier, President and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service. “I’m also thankful for the outgoing NAPA President and CEO Terry Gerton’s strong leadership and advancing the Academy’s ability to help address the biggest challenges facing government,” said Stier. Blockwood led the Partnership’s strategic planning and oversaw major programs. He played a key role in launching initiatives like the Federal Futures Lab and establishing new lines of business focused on artificial intelligence and government modernization. His leadership extended to the Center for Presidential Transition, Public Service Leadership Institute, and the Best Places to Work in the Federal Government Rankings. “I strongly believe in public service, and I look forward in this new role to partnering with Academy Fellows and communities across the country to promote public administration and strengthen our government at all levels,” said Blockwood.
