PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE EXPRESSES SUPPORT FOR H. RES. 756, THE “MOVING OUR DEMOCRACY AND CONGRESSIONAL OPERATIONS TOWARDS MODERNIZATION RESOLUTION”

March 10, 2020

WASHINGTON – The nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service issued the following statement in support of House Resolution 756, the “Moving Our Democracy and Congressional Operations Towards Modernization Resolution.”

“The Partnership for Public Service enthusiastically supports the thoughtful, common-sense recommendations of the bipartisan Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress to help Congress work better. We congratulate the Select Committee, the Committee on House Administration and the bipartisan House Leadership on H. Res. 756 and support implementation of the Select Committee’s recommendations,” said Vice President of Government Affairs Kristine Simmons.

“In our 2015 report, ‘Government Disservice: Overcoming Washington Dysfunction to Improve Congressional Stewardship of the Executive Branch,’ the Partnership found that federal agencies would likely be more efficient and effective if Congress itself worked better. The resolution considered by the House today is an important step forward. H. Res. 756 promotes civility and could help modernize operations, improve training and learning opportunities, and increase transparency. We believe this important legislation will lead to a more effective Congress – and that means better outcomes for the people of our country,” said Simmons.
