Partnership for Public Service Releases Statement Applauding Senators Carper and Johnson

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement commending Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) for introducing the Presidential Transitions Improvements Act of 2015:

“I would like to congratulate Sen. Carper, along with cosponsor Sen. Johnson, for introducing the Presidential Transitions Improvements Act, bipartisan legislation to improve the peaceful transition of power and knowledge between presidential administrations. I am grateful to Congress for its bipartisan approach to overseeing the presidential transition process and enacting needed reforms. The Presidential Transitions Improvements Act will improve knowledge sharing between the outgoing administration and the incoming president’s team, ensure agencies are adequately prepared for leadership vacancies, and provide accountability for transition activities across the federal government. I urge the Senate to pass this meaningful and important legislation.

“Recent presidential transitions have been rushed and chaotic, leaving many agencies with key leadership vacancies during a period of change and vulnerability. This legislation will improve the presidential transition and ensure that incoming administrations are ready to lead the nation through any crisis on day one.”

The nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service, through its Ready to Govern Initiative, seeks to bring together the administration, candidate transition teams, federal agencies, Congress and outside experts to ensure smooth and safe presidential transitions. As part of this work, the Partnership plans to develop a management roadmap for the next administration, engage Congress in promoting reforms to the presidential transition process, assist 2016 presidential candidates and their transition teams and prepare incoming presidential appointees to succeed.
