Partnership for Public Service Statement on the Life and Legacy of Former Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter

October 26, 2022

WASHINGTON — The nonpartisan nonprofit Partnership for Public Service released the following statement from President and CEO Max Stier on the passing of former Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter.

“Secretary Carter was a dedicated public servant, professor, and inspiration to all his students — many who were in uniform and many who were not. I am privileged to have worked with Ash and am deeply grateful for his time spent as an unwavering champion for the Partnership for Public Service, particularly our work on defense innovation and technology. Across five different administrations and both major political parties, his service created a safer environment for our troops and the public back home. I am sure his legacy will live on through the many lives he so positively impacted.”

During the past 21 years, the nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service has been dedicated to building a better government and a stronger democracy.
