PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF BOARD MEMBER, EMMY AWARD-WINNING BROADCAST JOURNALIST AND BESTSELLING AUTHOR COKIE ROBERTS

September 17, 2019

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement following the passing of board member Cokie Roberts.

“The entire Partnership for Public Service family joins millions around the world in mourning the loss of beloved author, political commentator and dear friend Cokie Roberts. Cokie joined the Partnership’s board of directors in 2004 and served as a valuable contributor to its efforts, including Public Service Recognition Week and its annual Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals. In 2003, Cokie was also appointed by President George W. Bush to the Council on Service and Civic Participation. She comes from a long line of devoted public servants with both parents having served as well-regarded members of Congress and her sister having served as Mayor of Princeton, New Jersey. Her voice on our country’s rich history and the current political landscape will forever be missed and our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and loved ones.”
