The best leaders in government continuously push themselves to get even better. As leaders assume greater responsibility, they seek enhanced management capabilities and updated knowledge of specific policy areas.

At the Partnership, we’re committed to providing graduates of our leadership programs with opportunities to enhance the skills they need to lead in the public sector. We are collaborating with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs to offer a graduate-level Certificate of Advanced Study in Public Administration for alumni of our Excellence in Government Fellows program. Combining this certification with an EIG experience will fully empower midcareer professionals to achieve their professional aspirations while leading their agencies to accomplish their missions.

Program Structure

This certification consists of two in-person courses and two elective online courses. Students who complete the program will receive an official graduate certificate awarded for completion of the certificate of advanced study as registered with the New York State Education Department from Syracuse University. The certificate document looks very similar to a traditional diploma, but the award is shown as “Certificate of Advanced Study,” as opposed to “Master of Arts” or other degree program.

Cost and tuition assistance

Tuition for this graduate degree is currently $1,620 per credit for the 12-credit program, totaling $19,440.

Tuition and fees are billed per term and can be paid using electronic funds transfer, credit/debit card, cash (in person) or check (by mail). In addition, students who are receiving full or partial tuition reimbursement from an employer can request an employer tuition reimbursement plan which allows for payment following reimbursement (typically after grades have posted each term). Employers who are covering the full cost may also have the option to pay directly and/or be invoiced on behalf of the student.

While financial aid in the form of federal education loans are not available for this program, applicants should inquire within their agencies about funding for professional development. Additionally, students who are eligible for veteran education benefits may be able to use funding toward this degree.  Find more information on how to access VA benefits for tuition and fees, as well as assistance with payment deferrals.
