Running the U.S. government is one of the world’s most challenging jobs, yet there’s only a small window of time after the election to get ready, so presidential transition activities should start much sooner. The fourth video in the Partnership’s “Our Government Explained” series describes the role of the presidential transition process in preparing a president-elect to run the country or continue into a second term.

Trustworthy: Increasing Civil Servants’ Trust at Work

Recognizing that trust within the federal workforce is an indicator of government effectiveness and a driver of public trust in government, the Partnership for Public Service with support from Deloitte undertook a year-long study of civil servants’ trust in two key dimensions of the federal government. Through our research, we sought to understand the levels, drivers and effects of civil servants’ trust in their leaders and the framework of the civil service. We also sought opportunities for agencies, administrations and Congress to take actions that could increase federal workforce trust.

In her own words: Recommendations for building inclusive leadership in the federal government

After analyzing two years of the Partnership for Public Service's 360 Leadership data, along with interviews and a focus group from federal women leaders, we compiled a list of best practices and offer suggestions for how individuals and organizations can support more inclusive leadership. To help make this information actionable, and because a focus of our entire LeadHERship series suggests that an important area of opportunity for improving inclusion and equity exists at the leader level, we conclude each section with some questions for leaders to ask themselves as they work to support their teams, and especially women.
