PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS RECOMMENDATIONS TO MODERNIZE CONGRESS

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service Vice President for Government Affairs Kristine Simmons released the following statement on the recommendations released today by the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress.
“We applaud the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress for its bold and extensive recommendations to improve the operations of Congress. Under the outstanding leadership of Reps. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.) and Tom Graves (R-Ga.), the committee’s chair and vice chair, committee members demonstrated exceptional vision and tenacity in developing 97 recommendations that drew wide bipartisan support. The committee’s success in finding unanimous agreement on such far-reaching recommendations to make Congress more effective inspires optimism for all who care about the institution.
“We are particularly pleased and supportive of the recommendations to improve staff retention and expertise in Congress, and to foster bipartisan problem-solving on issues that matter to the American people.
