John E. Pepper

Former Chairman of the Board, The Walt Disney Company

John E. Pepper, Jr. served as Chairman of the Board at the Walt Disney Company until 2012. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Finance and Administration at Yale University from January 2004 to December 2005. He has also served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of The Procter & Gamble Company until December 2003. Since 1963, he has served in various positions at Procter & Gamble, including Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2002, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman from 1995 to 1999, President from 1986 to 1995 and director from 1984 to 2003. Mr. Pepper serves on the board of Boston Scientific Corp. and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative.

A native of Pottsville, Pa., Mr. Pepper graduated from Yale University in 1960, and holds honorary doctorate degrees from Xavier University, Mount St. Joseph College and St. Petersburg University (Russia).

Mr. Pepper is a member of the Board of Directors of the Xerox Corporation, Motorola Inc. and the Boston Scientific Corporation. He is deeply committed to community service, particularly education. He is a member of the Governor’s Education and Business Advisory Group, and Vice-Chairman of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative. He is also co-chairman of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

He is a Fellow of The Yale Corporation, an Adjunct Professor at Yale and Chairman of the United States Advisory Committee for Trade and Policy Negotiations. He serves on the Boards of Partnerships for Drug Free America and The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. He has served as Chairman of the Ohio Business Roundtable (1998-99), and the Cincinnati United Way Campaign (1994), and on the Board of the Trustees of Xavier University.
