Leia Washington supports the Partnership’s federal workforce efforts to engage universities and recruit the next generation of public servants. She also serves as a program coordinator for a cohort of federal leaders in the Excellence in Government Fellows program. Her interest in public service began when she worked in the Ohio Senate, where she observed firsthand the positive impact that public officials could have on the day-to-day lives of constituents. This passion developed throughout her time at Ohio State University, where she studied public management, leadership and policy in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Leia’s favorite public servant is Senator Ted Kennedy, for his long tenure in the Senate and devotion to social justice reforms.
