California has some of the most innovative organizations in the country, making it a hub for new ideas, and as the fifth largest economy in the world and home to the largest regional population of civilian federal workers outside the Washington, D.C., area, it is well positioned to be a leader and model for effective collaboration. This issue brief summarizes key themes from roundtable discussions hosted between October 2019 and January 2020 by the Partnership, X Sector Labs and the San Francisco Federal Executive Board, and outlines actions that could increase the number of effective partnerships in California, especially those involving the federal government.
