Effective Practices for Intern Recruitment, Onboarding and Development
Effective Practices for Intern Recruitment, Onboarding and Development
Since the Partnership for Public Service’s founding in 2001, we’ve worked to inspire the next generation to serve. Through our long-standing Call to Serve network, we’ve partnered with colleges, universities and government agencies to support students in their journey to explore and pursue careers in government. We know that recruiting, onboarding, and supervising interns takes time, thoughtful planning, and resources. We also know that when done well, internship programs can help agencies build strong teams, shape their culture, and strengthen their workforce for years to come.
Effective Practices for Intern, Recruitment, Onboarding, and Development is a self-paced eLearning course for government agency staff interested in building an intern program from the ground up, looking to enhance current practices, or simply interested in creating a more impactful experience for interns.
Learners will be provided with the information and tools necessary to effectively run an intern program at all stages – recruitment, onboarding and program duration. This course also integrates tools and resources for intern supervisors.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Build a recruitment strategy and partner effectively with universities
- Onboard interns to set them up for success
- Equip supervisors to support and develop interns effectively
- Create meaningful, engaging programming that builds skills and community
