Partnership for Public Service Applauds End of the Government Shutdown

January 22, 2018

PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS END OF THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement upon the end of the government shutdown after Congress advanced a threeweek budget extension:

“Government shutdowns undermine the work of federal agencies and their employees, and erode public confidence in government. This shutdown was a reminder of the important work of the government and the vital services it provides to the American people. Our government’s ability to serve its citizens should never become collateral damage in a political battle.

Shutdowns should not and cannot be accepted as normal; instead, the American people should accept no less than timely budgets, modern civil service rules to attract top talent, and policymakers committed to improving the health of our government.”

During the past 17 years, the nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service has been dedicated to making the federal government more effective for the American people. We work across administrations to help transform the way government operates by increasing collaboration, accountability, efficiency and innovation. Visit opswebdev.wpengine.com to learn more. ###
