Given the critical shortages in scientific and technical talent in America and a rapidly changing security environment, recruiting needed talent presents a major challenge for NNSA. NNSA was having difficulty attracting a sufficient number of qualified candidates to apply for its highly specialized—and vitally important—jobs. After reviewing the prior vacancy announcement for the senior scientific position and meeting with the hiring manager and HR team, the root of the problem became clear: NNSA was not selling or marketing its unique employment opportunities.
