2016 Security and International Affairs Medal: Kirk Yeager Tags: Profile Known terrorist organizations and other extremists have shown great determination and ingenuity in creating, concealing and detonating improvised explosive devices, including the use of common, inexpensive household materials that are easy to obtain and difficult to trace. FBI’s Kirk Yeager is constantly vigilant to find new ways to detect and stop terrorist-made explosives, and teach what he’s learned to U.S. and international bomb squads. He has assisted with the investigation of nearly every high-profile bomb attack in the past several years, including bombings in Europe, the Boston Marathon bombing and the 2012 attempted bombing in New York’s Times Square.
