Our Work

America deserves a great government – efficient, innovative and responsive to the needs of its citizens. We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that strives to revitalize the federal government by inspiring a new generation to serve and by transforming the way it works.

Areas of Work

Creating a high performing government requires a comprehensive approach. It’s not enough to focus on one aspect of government reform at a time—we need to tackle numerous challenges simultaneously. We have identified the linchpin issues that must be addressed to improve our government’s performance and we work tirelessly to make progress in each of these areas.

JUNE 2020
The Partnership is collaborating with the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions at Vanderbilt University, and Georgetown University to administer the 2020 Survey on the Future of Government Service. This is a non-partisan survey about the backgrounds, experiences and policy views of federal executives. Academic, non-profit, and government partners will use data from the survey to better understand the public service. The survey includes questions about hiring, performance, management, and reform. Data from the survey will supplement existing government-wide data sources (e.g., Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey) and facilitate evidence-based decision making on the future of public service in 2020-21. Learn more about the survey.

How We Work

Working with federal agencies, their leaders and employees, Congress and the administration, we develop innovative solutions to improve the workforce, the management and the operations of government. We advocate for legislative changes, use our research to provide advice for agency leaders and offer training programs to develop strong leaders, equipping them to improve and transform government from the inside.

Public Service Leadership Model

To help leaders across government become more effective, we developed the Public Service Leadership Model. Individuals, teams and organizations can use this model to improve employee engagement, enhance performance and deliver better results to the American people. As the Partnership strives for a more effective federal government, this model helps public servants steer our government in the right direction.

About the Model

Our Impact

We are changing the way government functions and helping it better deliver on its promises to the American people. Our thought leadership informs agency policy and government legislation. Our program participants become effective government leaders who drive positive change in their agencies.
