Partnership for Public Service statement on the confirmation of Scott Bessent as secretary of the Department of the Treasury

The nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service released the following statement from President and CEO Max Stier after Scott Bessent was confirmed by the Senate as secretary of the Department of the Treasury. 

“The Partnership for Public Service congratulates Scott Bessent, the founder and CEO of hedge fund Key Square Group, on his confirmation as secretary of the Department of the Treasury where he will play a critical role in shaping our nation’s economic and fiscal policies. 

As Secretary Bessent assumes the responsibility for a wide array of important agencies within his department, we hope he will build a leadership team that effectively engages and motivates the career workforce and takes full advantage of their deep knowledge and experience to help ensure we have a vibrant economy.” 

The Partnership’s Department of the Treasury agency performance dashboard provides insights about the department’s operations and workforce. Some key data points include:   

  • 2023 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government score and rank: 68.4 out of 100, ranking 7 out of 17 large agencies    
  • Effective Leadership Score: 72.5 out of 100, ranking 6 out of 17 large agencies     
  • Number of Senate-confirmed positions: 26
