PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE WELCOMES FORMER PEPSICO CEO INDRA NOOYI TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
November 15, 2019
WASHINGTON – The nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service is pleased to announce that Indra Nooyi, formerly the CEO and chairman of the board of directors at PepsiCo, has been elected to serve on its board of directors.
“Indra Nooyi is an exceptional leader who brings a commitment to excellence and wealth of experience that will help advance the Partnership’s mission to make the federal government more effective for the American public,” said Partnership President and CEO Max Stier. “We are honored to have her join our esteemed board of directors.”
Nooyi led the snack and beverage company for 12 years before stepping down in October 2018. During her 24-year tenure with PepsiCo, she expanded the company’s healthy food and drink portfolio; led new and innovative ways to market its offerings; played an instrumental role in high-profile mergers and consistently earned a top spot on “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women,” an annual Forbes list that celebrates the icons, innovators and instigators who are changing power structures and creating a lasting impact. Nooyi also held numerous leadership positions in PepsiCo including chief strategist (1994); chief financial officer (2000); president (2001); and chairman of the board and chief executive officer (2006). Prior to joining the Fortune 500 company, she served in strategic planning roles at Johnson & Johnson, Boston Consulting Group, Motorola and the robotics company Asea Brown Boveri.
“My mother used to tell me, ‘Fly. Dream big. You can do whatever you want,’” Nooyi said. “I have had tremendous opportunities throughout my professional career, and it is an honor for me to contribute to an organization that is trying to fix one of our most critical democratic institutions – the federal government. I look forward to collaborating with the Partnership and helping to elevate its important work.”
Nooyi joins Chairman Tom A. Bernstein, president, Chelsea Piers Management, Inc., and other board members who bring both federal and private sector leadership experience to the Partnership.
“Indra Nooyi’s addition to our board could not have come at a better time,” said Bernstein. “She is an extraordinary leader who will bring a fresh perspective to the Partnership’s mission. I look forward to working alongside her in the days ahead.”
