Back to All Staff Jonathan Bush Sr. President and CEO, J. Bush & Company Jonathan Bush is a graduate of Yale University (BA) and New York University School of Business (MBA). He founded J. Bush & Co. in 1970. The firm was sold to Riggs Bank in 1997 and subsequently to Webster Bank. Mr. Bush continues to be actively involved as President of J. Bush & Co., a Division of Webster Bank. Prior to founding J. Bush & Co., Mr. Bush served as partner in charge of sales for G.H. Walker, Co., a member firm of the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Bush currently serves as Director of Russell Reynolds Associates and as Co-Chairman of The Capital Campaign for The Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven. Mr. Bush served for twenty years on the Board of the United Negro College Fund. Among other positions he held were Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Capital campaign. Mr. Bush is a former board member of The Yale New Haven Hospital, The Boys Club of New York, The Baltimore Orioles, Miss Porter’s School and the Yale Alumni Fund. For ten years, he ran a tennis program in New York for minority children. He was Co-Chairman of the National Finance Committee for his brother’s Presidential campaign in 1980 and also a former member of the Executive Committee and Finance Chairman of the New York State Republican Party. Mr. Bush holds honorary degrees from Buthune-Cookman College, St. Augustine’s College and Stillman College. The Bush family resides in Killingworth, Connecticut. They have two sons, Jonathan, Founder and President of Athenahealth Co. and Billy, the Anchorman of the Access Hollywood television program, and eight grandchildren.
