Welcome to the Partnership for Public Service

Hello! You’ve just been introduced to “Blockers,” a story of what’s at stake when our government is dismantled and how dedicated public servants upheld their oath of office when it mattered most.

The Partnership for Public Service is a leading nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to build a better government and a stronger democracy.

To meet this mission, the Partnership supports and advocates for civil servants, builds public appreciation for our government and develops reforms to transform the way it works, enabling better service to us all.

With our government facing unprecedented challenges, this work has never been more critical. Explore some of our initiatives below to learn what we are doing to make a difference and how you can help champion and enable a government that works more effectively for the public.

Our major initiatives

  • Service to America Medals®

Explore and share the stories of our Service to America Medals® honorees to help us spread the word about why public servants matter and the vital role of government in our lives. Since 2002, our program, the “Oscars” of public service, has recognized more than 800 federal employees who have moved our country forward. Our honorees have been profiled in major media outlets and in nationally recognized books, including “Blockers.”

  • Federal Harms Tracker

Explore our Federal Harms Tracker to learn how recent federal workforce, funding and program cuts are affecting our nation and communities across the country. Tell your networks about the impact of these cuts, contact your elected representatives about the harms happening in your community and share your own story.

  • Government for a New Era

Our Government for a New Era initiative is developing—and rallying the public to demand—bold plans to make our government more effective, responsive and accountable. Help shape our efforts by sharing what you expect from our government, how it has served you and what needs to change. If you are a former federal employee, consider lending your expertise to help inform our policy proposals.
