The recognition helped mark Federal Workforce Night at Nationals Park, an annual tradition that celebrates federal employees and the work they do on behalf of the nation. Before the game, Nationals staff members escorted the finalists and several Partnership employees onto the field for an opportunity to take pictures. After they were showcased on the big screen, Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge threw the first pitch. Jordan LaPier, a senior communications manager for the Partnership, made the “play ball” announcement to begin the game. The finalists watched an exciting first two innings, during which the Nationals and Mets combined for 11 runs. Throughout the game, finalists connected with each other and talked about how special it felt to be on the field and recognized in front of thousands of people. The Nationals won the game 8-3. This summer, a select group of government leaders, elected officials, media personalities and business leaders will select the 2022 Sammies winners. Until then, you can vote for your favorite Sammies finalist for the 2022 People’s Choice Award. You can vote once every 24 hours from now until July 1. Visit the Service to America Medals® website to cast your votes. The Nationals mascot, Screech, joined the Sammies finalists on the field at Nationals Park.
