Overview Since January 2025, the Trump administration has undermined science, taking sweeping actions that have disrupted federally supported science programs with alarming consequences, including driving out tens of thousands of public servants, halting critical research and clinical trials that save lives, canceling grants for programs that protect our communities’ health, and stalling industry growth and preparedness efforts that keep our country safe and thriving. These cuts have interrupted work that were lifelines for millions of Americans. For decades, the federal government has played a key role in supporting scientists and universities who tackle our country’s largest health and environmental problems, producing extraordinary scientific advances that have safeguarded communities from public health threats, improved agricultural production to feed America and more. The Partnership for Public Service’s Unraveling of Public Science documents the impact and scale of the Trump administration’s efforts in destabilizing the health and safety of communities across the country, bringing together federal data and stories that spotlight the damaging ripple effects that families, patients, medical researchers, farmers, business owners and more, are experiencing across the country.
