Hope is a diversity and inclusion professional who came to DOI from the Coast Guard. She has reached out to me and made my life better by being an engaged colleague and friend. She sets a stellar example within our Department in terms of communication and follow through, and knows the value of originality, and living her values.

Gratitude wishes to the The Bureau of Land Management's Cadastral Surveyor Team in Colorado. Especially to Kyle, Dave and Joe. ***The pubic appreciates all you do in the office, at your duty station and in the remote and rugged field environment!*** Thank you!

I'd like to thank the entire Corporate Communications Team at NGA in St. Louis. They work so hard every day to serve the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, the Greater STL region and the public. They are experts in their jobs and focus every day on mission, attitude and impact. They inform and inspire all they meet.

Pam, Thank you for inspiring me and so many others with your lifetime of service, in uniform while serving in the United States Army and as a tireless civil servant supporting the Department of Agriculture. You are an example for others as you harness idealism while allowing your wisdom to radiate through channels of practicality as you navigate your personal and professional journey. You continue to uplift and inspire. Thank you for all you do to create a symphony of engagement that resonates with excitement and shared celebration for your team.

TRIBUTE TO COLONEL WILLIAM J. CAVANAUGH I rise to honor COL William J. Cavanaugh, his contributions to the Air Force Research Lab at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, and his distinguished 31-year service in the U.S. Army. Colonel Cavanaugh was instrumental in the design and architecture of the AFRL Bio Acoustics Lab anechoic chamber. Seventy years after its completion, the anechoic chamber is still used today and the research done works to save the lives of our service members on the battlefield. The American Institute of Physics featured Colonel Cavanaugh in their oral history and highlighted Colonel Cavanaugh's far-reaching impacts on the scientific community. In December of 2022, the Ohio Legislature's 134th Generally Assembly adopted HCR 32 to recognize "Colonel William J. Cavanaugh for his contribution to the design and architecture of the United States Air Force Research Lab Bio Acoustics Laboratory, and for his outstanding and enduring service to our nation." It is fitting to honor Colonel Cavanaugh for his lasting contributions that have saved the lives of our men and women in uniform. Sites from the National Veterans Memorial and Museum to the National Museum of the United States Air Force have all commemorated Colonel Cavanaugh and his work. As we expand and support the vital work that Ohioans continue to do at Wright-Patt and the Air Force Research Lab, it is important to ensure that future generations learn about past leaders, including Colonel Cavanaugh, and the difference they made for our State and our country. Today, I join a grateful State and a grateful nation in thanking Colonel Cavanaugh for his dedication and service to Ohio and our Nation.

Dr. John W. Cavanaugh, Ph.D. OH

This Public Service Recognition Week, I'm reflecting on the profound impact of clear communication in our collective efforts to build stronger, more cohesive power of clear communication in building stronger communities. Public servants are united in a common mission regardless of our level (quasi-governmental, local, county, state, or federal). We work together on all levels, on the same team, towards shared goals. We listen actively and speak plainly by ditching jargon for clear, concise language everyone can understand. We ask open-ended questions to encourage transparent and specific responses instead of making assumptions. We give everyone a voice, fostering open dialogue where everyone feels heard and valued. We follow up to deepen connections with one-on-one conversations in the community and with our colleagues. We focus on common ground, seeking solutions that benefit everyone, not just a select few. We listen with empathy and understand people's needs and concerns to build trust and stronger relationships. This week, we're celebrating public servants, and I am genuinely thankful to be one and in good company with so many! #PublicServiceRecognitionWeek #Communication #Community #Thankful2BAPublicServant

I would like to thank Mayeen Mohammedi, who serves as a Country Desk Officer for the Europe, Mediterranean, and Asia region for the United States Peace Corps. Mayeen worked on the Public Information and Communications team at the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. She also served as an Anti-Racism fellow with the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative and as a Citizen Historian with the 1947 Partition Archive, a nonprofit organization which documents eyewitness accounts from the partition of India. Mayeen has previously lived in The Gambia, West Africa for two years to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked on issues like child marriage, female genital mutilation, and girls’ education in the village of Gambisara during her service. She also served as president of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, sparking unprecedented conversations about immigration, colonization, race, and privilege within the volunteer community.
