She has been very integral to our recruitment to our Food Service Department, such updating EWP’s , posting, assisting with interviews ,temporary staffing, applicants screening and etc.. I would like to thank Mayeen Mohammedi, who serves as a Country Desk Officer for the Europe, Mediterranean, and Asia region for the United States Peace Corps. Mayeen worked on the Public Information and Communications team at the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. She also served as an Anti-Racism fellow with the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative and as a Citizen Historian with the 1947 Partition Archive, a nonprofit organization which documents eyewitness accounts from the partition of India. Mayeen has previously lived in The Gambia, West Africa for two years to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked on issues like child marriage, female genital mutilation, and girls’ education in the village of Gambisara during her service. She also served as president of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, sparking unprecedented conversations about immigration, colonization, race, and privilege within the volunteer community.
I would like to thank Nicole Depillars, Human Resources Recruiter at the City of Flint. She is always professional and willing to patiently share her hiring knowledge with me. Her job isn't a high-profile or flashy one, but she helps me onboard new staff and interns, making a difference in many people's lives. I'd like to thank her for her service.
This Public Service Recognition Week, I'm reflecting on the profound impact of clear communication in our collective efforts to build stronger, more cohesive power of clear communication in building stronger communities. Public servants are united in a common mission regardless of our level (quasi-governmental, local, county, state, or federal). We work together on all levels, on the same team, towards shared goals. We listen actively and speak plainly by ditching jargon for clear, concise language everyone can understand. We ask open-ended questions to encourage transparent and specific responses instead of making assumptions. We give everyone a voice, fostering open dialogue where everyone feels heard and valued. We follow up to deepen connections with one-on-one conversations in the community and with our colleagues. We focus on common ground, seeking solutions that benefit everyone, not just a select few. We listen with empathy and understand people's needs and concerns to build trust and stronger relationships. As a federal employee working in agriculture, I am privileged to witness firsthand the impact of our work on farmers and communities, both locally and globally. Each day, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and support those who dedicate their lives to feeding the world. From drafting policies that promote sustainable farming practices to collaborating with international partners to facilitate trade agreements, I am proud to be part of a team that works tirelessly to ensure the resilience and prosperity of our food systems. As a federal employee and a member of the agricultural community, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all public servants in agriculture for their unwavering dedication and service, which reaches far beyond borders, shaping the global footprint of agriculture.
It is not all that often that there is a public service team that embodies the spirit of the term, "public service". However, in King County, WA the Licensing team truly holds those words to heart. They are about the most caring group of individuals I have ever come across in any public service organization. They are dedicated to each customer they serve and take personal responsibility in ensuring that those customer's needs are met. They truly care about each individual as they serve them but also, they deeply care for the general public and the citizens of the county in which they serve. King County follows a set of values called, "True North" which encompasses the belief that the employees want to make King County a welcoming community where every person can thrive. Two of those values that the Licensing team holds close to their hearts are, "We focus on the customer" and "We respect all people". The Licensing team sets the bar for what outstanding public service should look like and should be applauded for their efforts! Great job King County Licensing, we all thank you for your dedication, kindness and service!
