Thanks for bringing me a bike free of charge, a giftcard for Publix and a Hotel Stay to get me off the street and help me to continue to work at that Amazon distribution center during season! It was a nice gesture and certainly most appreciated.
I'm grateful to the Public School Teachers who continue to serve our Communities in spite of having "their hands tied" with regard to so many factors that impact their ability to be effective in the classroom; class sizes, behavioral problems, contradictory societal values etc etc. You have my undying gratitude and utmost respect.
This Public Service Recognition Week, I'm reflecting on the profound impact of clear communication in our collective efforts to build stronger, more cohesive power of clear communication in building stronger communities. Public servants are united in a common mission regardless of our level (quasi-governmental, local, county, state, or federal). We work together on all levels, on the same team, towards shared goals. We listen actively and speak plainly by ditching jargon for clear, concise language everyone can understand. We ask open-ended questions to encourage transparent and specific responses instead of making assumptions. We give everyone a voice, fostering open dialogue where everyone feels heard and valued. We follow up to deepen connections with one-on-one conversations in the community and with our colleagues. We focus on common ground, seeking solutions that benefit everyone, not just a select few. We listen with empathy and understand people's needs and concerns to build trust and stronger relationships. Having seen her leadership up-close, I can attest to the integrity she shows, the commitment to higher purpose she has, the teams she builds and the difference she makes. I've been with the government for over 37 years. I started with the military and now Internal Revenue Service. It has been great experience over these years. I have overcome many obstacles and pressed through each one. I am so blessed and grateful and I will keep striving to do my best in everything I do. "Thank You" to everyone that is serving the public.
I would like to nominate one of my county's legislators James Nolan. He's absolutely an incredible human not only has he helped me align professionally to support and help community members. He helps community members and truly has a heart for the people. From tree removal to extensive home renovations. If you call on James he will help you! I truly respect his blue collar work ethic as he's also a DPW team member. Literally from the suites to the streets he's a nobel, honest and hardworking example. Also he's so approachable and relatable for the young people of our community. That's how we truly build a sense of community! by supporting each other and ALWAYS uplifting our youth.
Hope is a diversity and inclusion professional who came to DOI from the Coast Guard. She has reached out to me and made my life better by being an engaged colleague and friend. She sets a stellar example within our Department in terms of communication and follow through, and knows the value of originality, and living her values.
